Balancing school, riding, training for an almost half marathon and trying to run a blog gets very hectic. I think it is important to have a balance in your life with everything you do, it is only healthy. I always put school before riding because my grades are very important and now at this stage in school they can determine what I can do in the future. Today I want to share with you guys some of the things that have helped me balance school and riding.
#1: Get an agenda.
I purchased my first agenda this year, and lets just say it has helped me out tremendously. I think it's great to jot down any tests/assignments as soon as your teacher announces them. This has helped me out becuase, I won't have to squeeze all my studying the night before and doing a little bit every night actually gives me more time at the barn.
I really like the Lily Pulitizer agendas, check them out here:
#2: Schedule your week out.
I always plan my week out, I try choose the days I will go to the barn, and what days are just for studying. I do homework almost every night, so it does not build up. I go to the barn about four to five times a week during the school year. The days that I go to the barn I still do my assigned homework and this takes me around two hours.
#3: Take advantage of your time in school.
When you are assigned work in your classes, take advantage of your time. By taking advantage of your time and trying to complete most of your assigned work will result in less homework, therefore more time to go to the barn.
This is what a typical planned week looks like for me:
Monday: Studying and running.
Tuesday: Barn 4pm-6:30pm & Studying 7pm-9pm
Wednesday: Studying & running.
Thursday: Barn 4pm-6:30pm & Studying 7pm-9pm
Friday: Barn 4pm-7pm & running.
Saturday: Barn 10am-1:30pm, running & studying 4pm-6:30pm
Sunday: Barn 10am-1:30pm, running & studying 4pm-6:30pm
